Boris Johnson is a politician and British Prime Minister who is in the summer of 2019 was elected leader of a Conservative Party to take Britain out of the EU or without a deal. He served as Mayor of London in 2008–16 to oversee the 2012–16 London Olympics.

He played a major role in the 2016 “Vote Leave” campaign on the EU referendum, later also becoming Foreign Secretary and Prime Minister. He is one of Britain’s most high-profile politicians, noted for his cynical approach to life, but increasingly known for his staunch Brexit stance, which has a polarized opinion.

Early life

Boris Johnson was born on 19 June 1964. His full name is Alexander Boris de Fafel Johnson, but chooses to use a shorter version of Boris. Boris is the son of Stanley Johnson, descended from Turkish descent and a former member of the European Parliament. Boris was educated at Eton, and Balliol College, Oxford University, where he studied classics.

He studied at Eton College, Elton, Berkshire, England, and also studied classics at Balliol College, University of Oxford, Oxford, Oxfordshire , England. During his time at Oxford he has also been president of the Oxford Union, a prestigious role held by many top British politicians.

During his time at Oxford University, he became president of the prestigious Oxford Union. It is claimed that he was the preferred candidate of the Social Democrat Party, although Boris claims that he was not an active participant in the center-left party. During his time at Oxford, he joined various drinking clubs such as the Bullingdon Club.

In March 2004, he was also nominated for an excellent entertainment BAFTA, with his famous Bumble performance hosting How I Got News For You (1990). He was extremely angry with regular panelist Paul Murton for the same award. This drinking society was associated with the “Hooray Henry” mentality. Boris has maintained this notion of being an Oxford toff in his political and public life.

In July 2007 Johnson stepped into the London mayoral election, challenging Ken Livingstone under the leadership of Labor. During the heartfelt election, he left behind the notion that he was a gaffe-prone and insensitive politician with more focus on crime and transportation issues. On 1 May 2008, Johnson won a narrow victory, which many viewed as a vengeance for the National Labor government led by Gordon Brown.
